Weather

 1. What are the different climates of the world ?

The six main climates are called tropical , dry , mild , continental , polar , temperate and high mountain ( Alpine). These are called all the different climates of the world. The climate are gradual changes in all the interconnected weather elements on our planet.

2. Why do different parts of the world have different climates ?

The climate of a region depends on many factors including the amount of sunlight it receives , its height above sea level , the shape of the land and how close it is to oceans.

3. Why is the sun important ?

The sun is important so it can give humans energy to run and walk. The sun is important because of the plants so the plants and the flowers could be healthy.

4. How are the clouds made ?

Clouds form when this invisible water vapour in the air condenses into visible water droplets or ice crystals. For this to happen , the parcel of air must be saturated so it starts to condense into a liquid or solid form.

5. Why do we have rain ?

Rain is the source of fresh water for many cultures where rivers , lakes , or aquifers are not easily accessible.

Rain makes modern life possible by providing water for agriculture , industry , hugiene , and electrical energy.

6. How does snow form ?

Snows form because of the cold in winter. Snow forms when water vapour freezes. It is not frozen rain but a ice that typically forms in clouds. Snow form because of the water vapour that happens.

7. Why do we have rainbows ?

A rainbow is caused by sunlight and atmospheric conditions. Light enters a water droplet , slowing down a bending as it goes from air to denser water. The light reflects off the inside of the droplet , separating into its component , wavelengths or colours.

8. What are thunder and lightning ?

Thunder is created when lightning passes through the air. The lightning discharge heats the air rapidly and causes it to expand. The temperature of the air in the lightning channel may reach as high as 50,000 degrees Fahrenheit , 5 times hotter than the surface of the sun.

9. How do the seasons affect New Zealand s weather ?

Over the northern and central areas of New Zealand more rainfall falls in winter than in summer , whereas for much of the southern part of New Zealand , winter is the season of least rainfall.

10. How do people cope with living in cold climates ?

The climate of region depends on many factors including the amount of sunlight it receives, its height above sea level, the shape of the land and how close it is to oceans.
